Delivery Lead- Operational Excellence

Office Locations: Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Bolton, Southport, Newcastle, Reading, Birmingham, Northampton, Cambridge, Derby, Oxford and Nottingham.

Hybrid working: We offer a flexible hybrid working model, combining home working with time spent collaborating and socialising in our modern offices.

This role can be based from any of our UK offices. However, due to team collaboration requirements, you’ll be expected to attend our Manchester office approximately 1–2 days per month.

We recognise that flexibility means different things to different people. We’re open to discussing flexible working options, including adjusted hours or a four-day working pattern, where these can be accommodated alongside business needs.

We’re looking for an experienced Delivery Lead to take ownership of complex improvement programmes, leading cross-functional teams to deliver meaningful, measurable change across the business.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Improvement leadership – own and deliver an improvement plan comprising multiple workstreams; translate high-level goals into a coherent plan with clear ownership, milestones and interdependencies
  • Stakeholder management – hold senior relationships across legal and enabling functions; understand the formal and informal context as well as the brief, and navigate both
  • Analytical standard – set and hold the analytical bar across all improvement in your area; design analysis that is honest about its limitations, and review your team’s work before it goes upwards
  • People development – line manage and champion the development of people assigned to your area (BAs, SMEs, other experts); give clear direction, regular feedback, and the kind of stretch that helps people grow
  • Planning and foresight – plan 3 months ahead; anticipate risks, resource constraints and dependencies before they become problems; keep your manager informed on the things that matter
  • Operational Excellence culture – set the tone; and build a supportive environment where everyone can achieve great things and have a great experience

Essential Skills and Experience: 

  • ​ A track record of leading and delivering projects or change programmes end to end – with responsibility for scope, planning, delivery and outcomes; experience in professional services, a regulated environment or a firm with complex stakeholder dynamics is a strong plus
  • Strong data literacy and analytical judgement – able to design rigorous analysis, spot a misleading metric, and hold the standard across a team’s output before it reaches a senior audience
  • Able to work effectively with senior stakeholders, explain recommendations clearly, and challenge constructively when needed
  • Self-directed and organised – can plan 3 months ahead, manage competing priorities across a project, and make progress independently between agreed check ins
  • Experience managing or developing others – not necessarily a large team, but a genuine commitment to helping people do their best work
  • Clear and confident communicator – able to translate complexity into plain language, and to write a concise update that a senior member of the Operational Excellence team can act on with minimal follow-up questions
  • Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience, STEM subjects are preferred although candidates from other backgrounds who can show evidence of strong mathematical analytical capability are equally welcome

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Genuine statistical intuition – and specifically, an understanding of how growth, time-lag and case maturity can distort performance metrics in ways that aren’t obvious from the data alone. We work in an environment where cases resolve over years, not weeks, and the ability to catch a misleading trend in your team’s analysis before it reaches a senior audience is something we value highly and test for at interview
  • Experience in a law firm or other professional services environment
