

Litigation Executive (EL/PL) Southport

Location: Southport/ Hybrid
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
This is a new role in an established team, you will be a confident Litigation Executive/Solicitor with 3 years’ experience in dealing with Employers, Occupiers and Public Liability matters. You will have conduct of around 80-100 fast track cases. You will be targeted on both the settlement of cases and issuing Court proceedings at the correct juncture, as well as customer survey scores.
You must be confident in working to a case plan and setting estimated settlement times on all cases, ensuring cases progress well and smoothly towards conclusion.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Running of 80-100 litigation files, which will include mostly Employer’s, Public and Occupier’s liability cases but may also include some RTA cases
- Providing regular client updates
- Reporting to your Team Leader and Head of Department
- Arrange medical appointments and review medical reports
- Carry out quantum reviews and case valuations
- Perform Risk Assessments during the life of the case and report to the ATE provider with updates
- Review and take instructions from the client upon receipt of offers
- Understand the correct juncture to make offers
- The ability to time record accurately
- Maximising costs
- Court document drafting and preparation of court bundles
- Drafting briefs to counsel
- Must be familiar with current legislative provisions
- A competent and working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules
- Drafting witness statements to a high standard
- Arranging and undertaking some advocacy
- To act at all times with honesty and integrity
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Good experience running cases from start to end and utilising the Court process if settlement cannot be reached.
- Solid knowledge of Part 7 and Part 8 Civil Procedure Rules
- Ability and confidence to conduct application hearings and CMCs
- Knowledge of pre-action disclosure processes
- Appropriate experience in EL/PL cases
- Excellent organisation and file management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail
- The ability to work with a case management system

- Must be able to work as part of a team structure as well as autonomously
- Articulate drafting of written communication
