Fletchers Group is seeking a dynamic and visionary Head of Department to lead and develop the Bolton Teams to meet the needs of our clients and deliver Fletcher’s strategies and plans for Serious Injury law department.

Main Responsibilities:
Strategy & Leadership
- Help develop and deliver the agreed strategy and plan for your teams.
- Support the budgeting process for the department and agree budget targets for each team.
- Provide inspirational leadership to the department, including recruitment, motivation, training, and supporting team leaders and team members.
- Ensure appropriate management and allocation of new work.
- Ensure that the team provides excellent client service and achieves agreed performance targets through consistent and clear leadership, in the management of individuals KPI’s.
- Ensure the progression of all cases in the team through to settlement.
Budget
- Manage and deliver overall budget and targets for your teams.
- Monitor and manage performance through key financial measures, including:
- Production
- Fees
- Revenue
- EBITDA
People Management
- Lead the Serious Injury Law department, directly managing the Bolton Team Leaders.
- Coach, develop, and support Team Leaders to achieve excellent people leadership practices.
- Work collaboratively with the People Team to optimise recruitment, engagement, and retention of lawyers.
- Role model Fletchers’ Values and promote a culture of inclusion, excellence, and collaboration.
Technical
- Provide expert advice and guidance on departmental issues and Serious Injury matters.
- Ensure departmental policies and procedures are consistently followed, ensuring cases progress appropriately and client satisfaction is delivered.
- Work with internal and external partners to ensure the department delivers quality legal services with unrivalled client care in a compliant way.
KPI’s/Outcome Measures:
Delivery of key output metrics, including:
- Fees, Work Done, EBITDA & EBITDAW
- Cases issued and accepted
- Accepted cases
- WIP to costs
- Client satisfaction
- Production
- Telephone statistics
Relationships
Provides a service to:

Acts as a champion for:
- Good legal practice across all Serious Injury cases

Essential Skills and Experience:
- Experience of successfully leading Legal Team/s
- Experience of running a wide variety of Serious Injury claims
- Ability to deliver excellent client service
- A good understanding of how to deliver and grow team productivity
- Experience of coaching and supporting other lawyers and managers
- Forming and maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to role model good practice leadership
- Technology literate, with the ability to use technology to enhance legal services
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive working relationships with a wide variety of team members
- Strong analytical skills
