In the role you will be reporting to the Head of Department, you are responsible for the day-to-day management of the Fixed recoverable costs team, as well as ensuring the team delivers a first-class service to the areas of the business they support.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Leading the team to maximise its objectives and deliver excellent standards of performance
  • To advise and carry a caseload of Fixed Costs cases.
  • Allocating cases appropriately within the team
  • Ensuring MI up to date and accurate
  • Liaising with fee earners regarding any questions/queries
  • Conduct annual PDMRs
  • Arrange and conduct monthly one to one meetings
  • Monitoring chargeability
  • Support the Head of Department with any other duties as required
  • Attending team meetings with fellow team leaders/HOFs/Director
  • Maintaining a case load
  • Review of opponent’s points of dispute and preparation of replies.
  • Ensuring that the quality of work produced is to the highest standard.
  • Mentoring, developing and identifying knowledge gaps of team members
  • Valuation of claims and adjustment of internal calculations for billing purposes
  • Consideration of all offers and reporting to team leaders to secure instructions to an agreed level.
  • Liaising with all necessary parties, to include the court in keeping necessary court dates.
  • Monitor daily workloads, as well as ensuring team achieve their service level agreements.
  • Be able to work to deadlines and prioritise matters to ensure targets are delivered.
  • Ensuring that the Client is regularly updated as to the current situation on matters.
  • Ensuring that care is taken to ensure good working relationships with internal colleagues.
  • Being responsible for maximising the firms profitability whilst maintaining the highest Client care standard.
  • Adhering to the firm’s policies.
  • Any other duties as reasonably required by the business.

  • Experience of Cost Master
  • Organisational, planning and communication skills

  • Ability to use initiative
  • Working effectively within a team.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
