We are a dynamic and rapidly expanding law firm specialising in Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury, dedicated to delivering justice and fair compensation for our clients. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and proactive Cost Draftsperson to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a keen eye for detail and strong drafting skills to play a pivotal role in our operations.
Role overview:
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the preparation and management of detailed costs budgets and bills of costs, ensuring that costs are accurately drafted and recovered in line with the latest legal standards. You will work closely with our legal teams, providing essential support and contributing to the firm’s success by maximising cost recoveries and advising on cost-related strategies.

Main Responsibilities:
- Preparation of detailed bills of costs, costs schedules and costs estimates.
- Review of opponent’s points of dispute and preparation of replies.
- Preparation of costs budgets.
- Reviewing opponents’ costs budgets, preparing BDR’s, Precedent T’s and entering into negotiations.
- Potential to attend CCMC hearings.
- Ensuring that the quality of work produced is to the highest standard.
- Management of daily workloads as well as achieving service level agreements.
- Be able to work to deadlines and prioritise matters to ensure targets are delivered.
- Ensuring that the Client is regularly updated as to the current situation on matters;
- Ensuring that care is taken to ensure good working relationships with internal colleagues;
- Being responsible for maximising the firms profitability whilst maintaining the highest Client care standard;
- Adhering to the firm’s policies.
- Any other duties as reasonably required by the business.

- Proven experience of drafting bills of costs and costs budgets
- Experience of Proclaim
- Experience of Cost Master
- Organisational, planning and communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good general IT skills
- Time management
- Ability to use initiative
- Working effectively within a team.
- Attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
